Friendship Botanic Gardens hosts a variety of events throughout the year, from the popular Easter Egg-Stravaganza Walk, to the Reptile Romp, Bug Safari, Butterfly Bonanza, Lyric Opera, Haunted Trails & Family Fall Fest, Native American Celebration and Thanksgiving Day Turkey Walk and more!  Please visit our Venues page if you would like more information on location options for your special event. Dogs on a leash are always welcome.

2020 EVENTS 

**Hi Friendship Gardens friends and family! We know that this can be a time of several uncertainties and changes. Fortunately, we are all in it together. We are closely monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic in our community and your safety is our first priority. Please continue to check back for updates regarding our scheduled events once they inch closer. **

AUGUST

August 6, 13, 20, 27 - Yoga in the Gardens Hosted by April Fallon 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. (Central Time)-  Experience all-levels yoga in a lovely garden setting hosted by yoga instructor April Fallon each Thursday morning this June, July, and August, and occasional pop up weekend classes! Celebrate and connect with nature surrounded by natural beauty; enjoy bird song and the freshest of summer air. Classes are $12 each, cash only- you will pay April directly. Please bring your own mat and water and arrive early to take the 5 minute walk to the Venue.   We are able to socially distance during class due to being outdoors and having a lot of space.  Classes will be held in front of the Celebration Stage in the grass, and if it is a light rain classes will be held under the roof/canopy of the Celebration Pavilion.  Feel free to take a hike after class!

August 23 - La Porte County Symphony Orchestra "Celebrating America" Concert - We are proud to host the wonderfully talented La Porte County Symphony Orchestra under the newly constructed Celebration Pavilion! Guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets, although there will be chairs available for use. Guests will be socially distanced among our sprawling Celebration Meadow. There will be a cash bar with wine and beer, too! The ArcelorMittal Children's Garden will be open for families and children. Advanced purchase is recommended. Tickets are available NOW via Eventbrite or on the LSCO website. 

August 28 - Taste & Tunes - A Johnny V Summer Event Series 6:30-8:30 p.m. (#2) - Enjoy an evening with the amazingly talented Johnny V at the new Celebration Pavilion overlooking the color-changing fountain in beautiful Lake Lucerne.  You may bring your own blanket or relax in our lawn chairs. There will be different food & beverage options each month so be sure to mark your calendars. Kids can enjoy the ArcelorMittal Children’s Garden before, during, or after the event. 

August 30 - Lyric in the Gardens 3:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. (Central Time) - Enjoy an enchanting afternoon with a wonderful performance of the upcoming Chicago Lyric Opera season at this annual event! The first hour (3:00-4:00) will be a cocktail hour for guests to enjoy a drink and take in the garden scenery. The performance will start promptly at 4:00. Regular seating is $45, and premium seating (limited to 48 seats) is $50. Tickets may be purchased here

SEPTEMBER

September 25 - Taste & Tunes - A Johnny V Summer Event Series (#3) 6:30-8:30 p.m.- Enjoy an evening with the amazingly talented Johnny V at the new Celebration Pavilion overlooking the color-changing fountain in beautiful Lake Lucerne.  You may bring your own blanket or relax in our lawn chairs. There will be different food & beverage options each month so be sure to mark your calendars. Kids can enjoy the ArcelorMittal Children’s Garden before, during, or after the event. 

NOVEMBER

November 26 - Native American Celebration & Thanksgiving Turkey Walk 11:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. (Central Time) - Embark on a scavenger hunt throughout the gardens and nature trails, find every hidden paper turkey and win a special Thanksgiving prize! Get a firsthand look at Indigenous Peoples’ cooking techniques at a demonstration featuring traditional pumpkin stew over an open flame.
