Veteran's Memorial Garden

Veteran's Memorial Garden

The early stages of the World War II Garden in 2017.

Friendship Botanic Gardens has introduced the new Veteran's Memorial Garden in 2018. The garden is an ongoing project that will include four gardens honoring the brave men and women that have served our country overseas in the four major conflicts of our time - World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, and the current conflict in the Middle East.

The first part of the project is the World War II Garden, which was generously donated by the Woodruff Family. Bill Woodruff (La Porte County Landscaping), Bruce Woodruff (Woodruff and Sons) and H&S Landscaping provided the material and labor for the garden. The garden has a natural aggregate path and will eventually have benches that will allow visitors to pay respect to the Veterans of World War II and to the Woodruff Family for their service (click here if you are interested donating a bench in the garden to memorialize a loved one). Six Red Sunset Maples can be found in the garden, each one memorializing each of the six Woodruff brothers that served our country overseas.

The Veteran's Memorial Garden will have four gardens honoring veterans that served in:

- World War II

- Korean War

- Vietnam War

- Conflicts in the Middle East

Honor a loved one with one of the beautiful Memorial Benches that will be placed anywhere throughout the gardens.

The Veteran's Memorial Garden honors the men and women that have served in all of the branches of the US Military. The garden represents the pride that comes with serving our country. Friendship Botanic Gardens is currently looking for bench donations. The benches will be placed throughout the four gardens that make up the Veteran's Memorial Garden. The benches will be a place for people to sit, relax, and enjoy the beautiful scenery while paying respect to all that have fought to preserve our freedoms. Visit our memorial bench page for more information. Friendship Botanic Gardens offers FREE access for active-duty military personnel (must have valid ID card).
